RFLPs in human X-linked PGK1: a new probe for the PstI RFLP demonstrates strong linkage disequilibrium with the BgII RFLP.

چکیده
INTRODUCTION: Several RFLFs have been described in the human phosphoglycerate kinase 1 (PGK1) gene in Xql3. Whereas the PstI polymorphism as detected with PGK1 cDNA (Hutz et al.) was complicated by multiple X-linked and autosomal constant bands, only two bands are seen with a fourth-intron genomic probe. We have compared this PstI RFLP to the 5' Bgll RFLP detected by pSPT-PGK (Vogelstein et al.) and have found them to be in strong linkage disequilibrium.

Multiple restriction fragment length polymorphisms at the insulin receptor locus: a highly informative marker for linkage analysis.
Although resistance to insulin action is a well-studied phenomenon in non-insulin-dependent diabetes and certain genetic syndromes, the role of inherited defects of the insulin receptor in these disorders is unknown. To facilitate the evaluation of that role, restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) were identified using various portions of the insulin receptor cDNA to examine digested...
متن کاملRecombination within a subclass of restriction fragment length polymorphisms may help link classical and molecular genetics.
Restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) are being used to construct complete linkage maps for many eukaryotic genomes. These RFLP maps can be used to predict the inheritance of important phenotypic loci and will assist in the molecular cloning of linked gene(s) which affect phenotypes of scientific, medical and agronomic importance. However, genetic linkage implies very little about t...
متن کاملVariation in the low density lipoprotein receptor gene is associated with differences in plasma low density lipoprotein cholesterol levels in young and old normal individuals from Italy.
We have used four restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) of the human low density lipoprotein receptor (LDL-R) gene, detected by the restriction enzymes Ava II, Pvu II, and ApaLI (5' and 3'), to study the effect of variation at this gene locus in determining plasma cholesterol and LDL cholesterol levels. Two hundred eighty-nine normolipidemic individuals were studied from the Liguria...
متن کاملRestriction fragment length polymorphisms associated with the factor VIII and factor IX genes in Polynesians.
New Zealand Maoris (72 X chromosomes) have been compared with Pacific Island Polynesians (121 X chromosomes) and Caucasian New Zealanders (51 X chromosomes) as a control group to determine the allelic frequency of six RFLPs associated with the genes for two X linked diseases (haemophilia A and haemophilia B). RFLPs examined were BclI, XbaI, and BglI within the factor VIII gene, the factor VIII ...
متن کاملPstI and RsaI RFLPs in complete linkage disequilibrium at the CYP2E gene.
Source/Description: A 1.5 kb Apal-Apal fragment, containing 5' upstream sequences of the human CYP2E gene (1). Polymorphism: Pstl detects a two allele polymorphism with bands at 6.1 kb (Cl) or 3.9 and 2.2 kb (C2). Rsal detects a two allele polymorphism with bands at 1.4 and 0.5 kb (Cl) or 1.9 kb (C2). These two polymorphisms are in complete linkage disequilibrium with each other. Other Comments...
